Project Scope
This project aims to develop a new, user-friendly ankle-foot orthotic (UF-AFO) fastening design that addresses the existing problem of poor compliance from patients and/or caregivers when using the AFO. This will be implemented by specifically redesigning the existing fastening device consisting of a Velcro® strap and D-ring combination. The new fastening device design aims to accomplish the following:
· Reduce improper use of AFO
· Implement a design that reduces difficultly of donning and doffing the AFO
· Serve as an addition to current AFO models
The final product of the design process will be manufacturing-grade computer-aided design.
